Please see the information on endangered species in the 9-volume The Grolier Student Encyclopedia of Endangered Species (J REF 591.52) found in the Wilton Library children's reference section, and try searching our catalog for the subject words for the specific species or the words endangered species for general books.

Don't forget to ask the librarian if there are books set aside on "school reserve" for your topic!

Terrific Tips:

Although these Web resources are good and include pictures and lots of information, you will want to try our article databases for more.

  • Go to the student section of our research databases by clicking here.
  • Select "Student Edition" or "Junior Edition" and enter your Wilton Library barcode number with no spaces between numbers in the space provided.
  • Enter your search terms in the entry box and click the search button [note: you may want to limit the search to articles "with full text only" by checking that box before you search]
  • A search of endangered AND species in the Student Edition brought up 1,359 full text articles, for instance, from magazines like Science News, Natural History and Audubon, to name a few!
You can also use EBSCOhost to search for magazine articles on endangered species in the same way.

Remember, if you use a search engine like Google on the Web, use quotation marks around phrases like "endangered species" or "bald eagle" to get better results! And always on the Web - be a careful consumer: check the source of the site to make sure it's giving you reliable and up to date information!
