The library is taking numerous precautions to allow for the health and safety of staff and patrons:
You will be able to browse all the collections in the library. Limited seating is available in the Reading Room for patrons to read newspapers and magazines. Physically distanced study carrels and tables are placed around the library. The courtyards are open to patrons. Internet computers are available to adults and teens.
Meeting rooms, study rooms and the Innovation Station will remain closed for now. Toys and games have been removed from the Children's Library, and computers will not be available in the Children's Library for now. Please understand that this is not the time for visiting with friends or studying in large groups.
We are now accepting book donations at our Godfrey Place book bins. With donations expected to be high, the library is asking that people be mindful of the types of items they donate. Wilton Library's book sale fundraisers are known for the high quality items we sell. That includes books for all ages, DVDs, CDs and vinyl. Please note that we cannot accept VHS, magazines or reference materials. It is very costly to dispose of these unsellable items, therefore they do not benefit the library. Gently-used, new and good quality items are gratefully accepted.
We continue to offer our drive-thru window service Mondays through Fridays, 10 am to 6 pm and Saturdays, 10 am to 5 pm. Please wait to be notified via text, email or phone that your reserved items are available for pick up at the drive-thru. Reserve your items using our online catalog or call us at 203-762-6350.
Our digital library is available 24/7 with a Wilton Library card. We have many downloadable and streaming digital resources to keep you up-to-date and entertained. They're free and available anytime with a Wilton Library card. Discover eAudiobooks, eBooks, eMagazines; music, movies, TV shows; online learning; streaming jazz and classical music, online language-learning, online databases and more. Non-Wilton residents may check with their hometown libraries for these services.
If you are a Wilton resident and don’t have a Wilton Library card, you can stop by our circulation desk to get your card during your visit, or register for one online.
You will be given a temporary number that will allow you to request items in our catalog, but you will need to wait for the permanent number to access our digital collections. We will issue your card and email the permanent number to you. You may pick up your card at our drive thru window once you have been notified.
Yes, however resources are limited as not all libraries in or out of state are participating in InterLibrary Loans at present. We will take requests on a case-by-case basis, but it may take a few weeks for the books to arrive. Thanks for being patient.
Yes, programs will continue to be offered virtually.
Our library staff has been providing a robust platform of virtual programs that can keep you engaged, inspired and connected from home. Some of the virtual programs have been Story Times, Author Talks, Literary and Poetry Seminars, Business and Job Resources Webinars, College Prep Live talks with Matt Greene, Book Discussions Groups, Jazz History sessions, craft sessions, Zentangle art instruction, cooking, tutorials, genealogy research, disaster preparedness and more. Visit the library’s Events page to see what’s coming up.
We are accepting library returns at the circulation desk and at the Drive-Thru Window during library hours, and in the blue return bin in the library's parking lot, which is open 24/7.
