If Wilton Library does not own the book you are looking for, we can usually get it for you from another library. This service is called “interlibrary loan” (ILL). We can also get photocopies of newspaper and magazine articles through interlibrary loan.
How do I request an item? There are four ways you can request that we get an item from another library:
How much does it cost? Most items may be borrowed from other Connecticut libraries free of charge.
Are there limitations?
We are unable to request movies, audiobooks and other audiovisual materials through interlibrary loan.
New books published within the last six months are not available for interlibrary loan.
How can I check the status of my request? Once your request has been processed, you may track its status by logging into your Wilton Library account. At the top of this page, or on the library homepage (www.wiltonlibrary.org), click on the blue Catalog/My Account button on the upper left side of the page. Click on My Account and enter your Library card barcode OR your username. Then enter the last four digits of your phone number OR your password and log in. Click on Requests on the left side of the page and you will see a list of the titles you have requested. If the status of an item is Inactive, the item has not yet been received at Wilton Library. We will notify you as soon as we receive the item.
Are there other options? Through the ConnectiCard program, you may use your Wilton Library card at any public library in the state of Connecticut. Just make sure you take your Wilton Library card with you when you go, and you will be able to check out any materials offered at neighboring libraries. You can even return materials from other libraries to Wilton Library and we will send them back at no charge to you.
