ESL (English as a Second Language)

Monday, Sept. 30 through Wednesday, Dec. 18 , 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Twice-weekly classes in English as a Second Language will begin on Monday, September 30 and will continue on Mondays and Wednesdays until December 18 at Wilton Library given by Westport Continuing Education. (Note: no class Oct. 14 or Nov. 27) Testing and registration required.

Stock Market Game for Teens

Monday, Sept. 30 through Monday, Dec. 9, 4 – 5:30 p.m.
Interested in how the stock market works? Join SMG (The Stock Market Game), a simulated marketplace played by teens all around the world. Working in teams of 2 or more, the teams will be given $100,000 in virtual cash and then build a portfolio, do research, evaluate stocks, trade common stocks and mutual funds, and more.  Tracey Morgan, a former Senior Trader of foreign exchange derivatives will be running this nine week program — Mondays, from 9/30-12/2.  Note: The first session will last 1½ hours. All others will be one hour.  For teens in grades 7-12.  Registration filled.

Weir Farm Artist-in-Residence Exhibition/Reception: Julie Anne Mann

Monday, Oct. 21, 6 – 7:30 p.m.
October brings Julie Anne Mann to the Weir Farm Artist-in-Residence program. The majority of Ms. Mann’s work is composed from natural materials and/or settings, using their inherent qualities to exemplify or allude to parallels found in human nature.  Julie Anne plans to continue this practice at Weir Farm using the landscape and elements at hand to explore the ground’s relationship with flora.  Co-sponsored by Weir Farm Art Center and Weir Farm National Historic Site and presented by Wilton Library.   Registration suggested.
