StorytimeTerrific Tales for Twos and Threes

Tuesday, Jan. 7 through Tuesday, March 18, 10:15 – 10:45 a.m.
Join Wilton Library for 2 and 3-year old story time.  Children and their caregivers will sing songs, listen to stories, and enjoy playtime together while building literacy and social skills. This program runs for 11 weeks.

Parenting Book Series with Dr. Susan Bauerfeld

Tuesday, March 4, 10:30 – noon. 
Dr. Susan Bauerfeld, a licensed clinical psychologist, ADHD Coach and mother of three boys, reviews several parenting books over the course of the year chosen for their soundness and relevance to the community. The book for March is No: Why Kids – of All Ages – Need to Hear it and Ways Parents Can Say It by Dr. David Walsh, Ph.D.   Reading the book is not required, but it is encouraged and will likely enhance the discussion.  No charge. Co-sponsored by Wilton Youth Council, Parent Connection, a member organization of WYC, Wilton Library and United Way of Coastal Fairfield County. Registration strongly encouraged.

StorytimeLook, Listen and Learn

Tuesday, Jan. 7 through Tuesday, March 18, 11 – 11:30 a.m.
For 3 and 4 year-olds with caregivers. By interacting with stories, singing songs and acting out finger plays and rhymes, children in this program gain pre-reading skills and learn how to participate in a group setting. This program runs for 11 weeks.

Literary Littles

Tuesday, Jan. 7 through Tuesday, March 18, 2:15 – 3:00 p.m. For independent listeners ages 4 – 6 years. This is a story time that provides children with experiences that enrich early literacy. Children will hear stories, watch short films, sing songs, and do a craft. This program runs for 11 weeks. call-icon1

Matters of the Heart: A Forum on Heart Disease

Tuesday, March 4, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Wilton Library, Wilton Family Y and RVNA present a free forum on heart disease and the latest advances in treatments, medications, research and development.

Panelists include Dr. Michael L. Dewar, Cardio-Thoracic surgeon and Assistant Clinical Professor of Cardiac Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine, who will address the newest surgical techniques; Robert Bepko, Jr., Director of Professional Services for Norwalk Hospital, who will discuss the latest research and development in cardiac care; and Martha Bryce, Nurse and Heart Champion, who will discuss her own experience from the patient’s point of view.

The moderator is President and CEO of Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association (RVNA) Theresa Santoro. All participants receive a free ‘Try the Y’ pass! RVNA and Wilton Family Y will offer Free Blood Pressure Screenings, as well as Heart Healthy snacks at the library from 6:00pm- 7:00 p.m. prior to the forum.

The RVNA will offer free non-fasting cholesterol screenings from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5 at the Wilton Family Y. Appointment required – please call the RVNA at 203-438-5555, ext. 1005 to book.

The talk will be followed by a Q&A. Registration recommended.
