Please note: in an effort to create a small, consistent group experience, this program uses a lottery system for registration. Lottery registration forms are available at the Children's Library desk starting Dec. 17 and must be returned by Jan. 7, 2017. Patrons will be notified via email if they receive a spot. Judson Scruton leads this 4-part Winter Poetry Seminar Series exploring the poetry of Emily Dickinson. Judson will be looking at and discussing some familiar and some lesser known Dickinson poems with the aid of new resources to see Dickinson’s poems as, in poet and critic Dan Chiasson words, a 'unique category of verbal notation, significant both for their literary power and for their physical appearance on the page.' Judson Scruton, M.A (The Johns Hopkins University, The Writing Seminars, specializing in poetry), has taught creative writing and literature at prep schools and universities. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of English at Fairfield University. Poetry packet available at front desk one week before the seminar begins. No charge for the program. Advance registration required. Register online or call 203-762-6334. By registering for the first session, you will automatically be registered for all four sessions. See registration link for more program and speaker details.
